Recently, SIP Hudong Police Station has experienced a peak in identity card applications due to the concentrated expiration of the 20-year second-generation ID cards coinciding with the increasing applications for ID cards for juveniles for summer vacation travels. Statistics show a 30% increase in daily average applications received, with single-day numbers reaching up to 200, and daily inquiry calls exceeding 140.

The police station’s service outlet at Jingcheng Neighborhood Center has adopted multiple measures to improve the service efficiency, including extending service hours and adding two dedicated service spots and self-service photo booths.

Staff serve on site to guide applicants to make online applications so as to reduce on-site waiting time.

In case of insufficient application documents, the application can be accepted if the applicants concerned promise to submit the missing documents later within the required time. This also improves efficiency and minimizes unnecessary visits.

Furthermore, for residents with mobility problems, the station’s staff visit the applicants for in-home application upon request.

Applicants can receive their new ID card at the service outlet of the police station, or require to have it delivered by mail, and doorstep delivery by the station’s staff is available during this summer vacation.
